FAQs
What is Leather Protector?
Leather protective treatment is designed to give a durable and invisible protective shield against most common oil and water based spills. The protection prevents the fibre absorbing the spills plus ensures that soiling marks are more readily removed.
Will the treatment change my fabrics/leather?
No. When correctly applied will not change the colour or feel of the treated item.
Will the protector protect against every type of spill or mark?
No. The protector is a defence barrier, not armour plating. It will slow down the absorption of staining liquids or grease, but the spill does need to be cleaned up as quickly as possible. Depending on the closeness of the weave of the textile, water and some spills may penetrate through. With a wide weave fabric, no fabric protector can prevent liquid penetrating through the weave. However, protector impregnates the treated fibres and assists in preventing liquid and soil absorption. Our leather treatment provides a durable topcoat of protection.
How long does the protection last?
Famous protector lasts for up to 5 years and should withstand 3 professional cleans.
What does the Protection Plan cover?
The Famous Protection Plan safeguards your treated furnishings for a full 5 year period and covers just about any accidental damage from a single incident including stains, rips, tears, pen marks, scratches, scuffs, cigarette burns, and the like. Subject to the conditions in the Warranty, Fibrecare will repair or replace your damaged furniture. Damage caused by pets is not covered.
Can the Protection Plan be sold on commercial furniture?
No. The Protection Plan cannot be sold on furniture used in commercial situations as the people using the furniture have no vested interest in looking after it.
Are all types of leather covered?
No. Aniline, Nubuck and other waxed or unfinished leathers are almost impossible to protect. Famous products are designed to protect all top coated leathers and vinyls. It is virtually impossible for even a leather technician to remove marks and stains from waxed and unfinished leathers.
